Legal
Adult Content Rules.
Last updated 18 September 2026.
Who this is for
InkABook's erotic-fiction and adult-romance writing features are intended only for adults aged 18 or over. Access requires confirming your date of birth and agreeing to these rules. This is a self-declaration, not a document-based identity check, see "How age is confirmed" below for why.
What's allowed
Text-only adult fiction and erotica between consenting adult characters, written to a genuine story with real emotional/romantic substance, not just a sequence of disconnected scenes.
What you must not do
- Falsely claim to be 18 or over.
- Use the adult-fiction section on behalf of a minor, or give a minor access to it.
- Generate sexual content involving, or sexualised depictions of, anyone under 18, under any framing, regardless of how a character is labelled.
- Generate non-consensual sexual content presented approvingly.
- Attempt to circumvent InkABook's safety controls (the age gate, content moderation, or provider restrictions).
- Use the service for unlawful sexual content of any kind.
- Use it for coercive or exploitative content where prohibited by this policy or applicable law.
What InkABook may do
- Deny access to adult-fiction features.
- Suspend or terminate accounts for misuse of this policy.
- Preserve relevant records where required.
- Cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities.
- Report conduct where required by law.
How age is confirmed
InkABook currently confirms age through self-declaration (a date of birth you provide, plus your agreement to these rules), not through identity document upload or biometric verification. This reflects that InkABook's adult-fiction feature is text-only sexual/erotic content, which current UK Ofcom guidance treats differently from regulated pornographic (image/video) content for the stronger "highly effective age assurance" duties that apply to pornography services. Self-declaration would not be sufficient if InkABook were to offer content that does fall under those stronger duties, and InkABook may strengthen its age-access controls if legal requirements, platform policies, regulatory guidance, or product risk changes.
This is separate from KDP publishing rules
Passing this gate and InkABook's own content moderation does not mean a manuscript is automatically suitable for publication on Amazon KDP or any other platform. KDP has its own, generally stricter, content rules for adult material. You're responsible for reviewing a manuscript against your chosen publishing platform's own rules before publishing it there.
